One of the key roles of the PQR is to ensure NQAs are provided with all the assistance they need to enable them to facilitate the development, accreditation and registration of their national and provider qualifications.

National Qualifications Agencies are expected to support industries and stakeholders in determining workplace and national standards and facilitate the development of competency based qualifications.

To ensure NQAs are working within the framework developed FOR the PQR and will comply with the requirements for registration in the regional register, a series of manuals and guidelines outlining key expectations will be developed and distributed to the individual NQAs.

Under the qualifications services, SPBEA will be focusing on a number of key areas:

  • Assist in the development of guidelines for developing high standards of provider and national qualifications
  • Coordinate development of policies and procedures for the transfer of qualifications from the NQF to the PQR
  • Provide guidelines and standards for competency-based qualifications
