To enable the registration of national qualifications on the PRQR, they must first be registered by the National Qualifications Agencies (NQAs).
While some countries are quite ahead in the development of the NQAs, others have just begun or are yet to commence on their NQA development.
The PRQR programme will initially be assisting member countries to establish themselves and be able to provide the kinds of services required for the registration of national qualifications.
Specifically, the PQR programme will be focusing on the following activities in 2009:
- Assessment of progress of establishment of National Qualifications Agencies.
- Collect information on the policies and procedures in the areas of Quality Assurance and Qualifications being developed by NQAs
- Conduct an inventory of post school education and training activities together with the types of awards/qualifications being awarded
- Assess how the Accreditation Unit can support National Qualifications Agencies
- Develop a draft PQF template
- Coordinate a Regional Consultation over the Draft RQF template
Once the NQAs are established and begin full operation, SPBEA will be responsible for providing support and assistance to the NQAs to ensure the smooth progress in the development and registration of qualifications in the National Qualifications Framework and transfer to the Regional Qualifications Register.
